A young man has been killed by unknown assailants who attacked him days ago in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state capital. It was gathered that the deceased identified as Gaston Godswill, a 200-level student of the Department of Marketing, University of Uyo, was ambushed and beaten to death after going missing for about three days. His disappearance was announced online as efforts to locate him was in progress before he was found dead with bruises all over his body, according to reports. His corpse has been deposited at a mortuary as his friends and colleagues have taken to Facebook to mourn the loss. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has listed 22 witnesses who will testify in the trial of the former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose. A young man has been shot dead by gunmen after being attacked on Friday (yesterday) in Benin, Edo state capital. It was gathered that the gun-wielding hoodlums stormed the residence of the deceased identified as 'Don Baba' and shot him multiple times. A Vehicle belong to the dead victim was also vandalise by the gunmen during the attack. The killing is coming days after the deceased celebrated his birthday (on Tuesday). His corpse has been deposited at a mortuary in Benin. Just recently, a young man was shot dead by gunmen suspected to be cultists in Edo state. The deceased identified as Gaius Julius, a graduate of Civil engineering at Auchi Polytechnic, was allegedly killed by the gunmen who attacked him in an alleged case of mistaken identity.

At the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, convention ongoing at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, at least 138 lawmakers who are delegates have reportedly backed the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, an aide to Saraki has revealed. Saraki is one of the 13 contenders for the party’s presidential ticket. According to the aide, both the South-East and the North-East delegates have split over whom to vote between Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar and Saraki. The aide also revealed that 37 votes from delegates living with disabilities have equally gone to Saraki. According to him, “Following marathon meetings with 22 state caucuses and PDP blocs, Saraki has secured the votes of all the North Central States, 138 federal lawmakers and at least 37 votes from people with disabilities.” He however said that while 34 serving lawmakers have backed the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, that 28 others have gone for Atiku. Hoodlums Friday attacked policemen at the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, primary election in Delta State and set their patrol van ablaze. DAILY POST reports that the hoodlums stormed the Ethiope-East Local Government Council, venue of Ethiope-East Constituency election during accreditation. They blocked the gate while shooting sporadically and beating up the electoral officer who was to conduct the PDP primary election. A serious fight, however, ensued between the hoodlums and some youths leading to an attack on the policemen and their van. A rifle was snatched from a policeman in the process. The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Mustafa confirmed the report in a chat with DAILY POST. CP Mustafa said, “There was a problem actually. It was the PDP House of Assembly election which held at Isiokolo. Though, we have recovered the rifle. The situation has calmed down. One person was injured but it’s not that serious.”
