Man Bathes His Wife With Acid In Anambra After Demanding For Divorce (Graphic)

A mother of two identified as Mrs. Añurika Chinwuba, was this afternoon bathed with harmful substance believed to be acid by her husband, Mr. Onyeachonam Chinwuba, who allegedly opposed his wife's demand for divorce. According to the Anambra State Commissioner for Children and Women Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue, the victim who had sought divorce, accusing her husband of living a questionable life, was with her husband in the Ministry of Children and Women Affairs, Awka, yesterday and earlier today where their differences were thought to have been resolved. It was after they left the Ministry that the husband reached for a bottle containing the harmful substance, which he hid in his clothes, and poured on the victim, causing serious burns on her face down to her body. The victim was then rushed to the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, where the Commissioner, Lady Mezue, has already gone to visit and promised to support her. Nigerian Man In Italy Attacks Police Officers As The 2 Land In Hospital

According to reports, a Nigerian assylum seeker has been arrested in Italy after allegedly attacking and injuring two policemen in Vicenza, Italy. It was gathered that the Nigerian man was stopped by officials during a simple identification check and he refused to submit his documents while allegedly insulting the officers. When the situation got out of control, other Nigerian migrants gathered and surrounded the police officers in an attempt to prevent their colleague's arrest. The police had to call for re-inforcement to calm the tension. When more officers arrived, the Nigerian man allegedly attacked them and bit one in the hand, leading to an injury. The situation further degenerated as other migrants blocked the police during the chaos. The Nigerian assylum seeker was later arrested as it was discovered that he's in Italy with a permit for humanitarian reasons. Two persons – Arewa Adekunle (aka Barrister Tania Rivera) and Kadiri Yusuf Kayode – were on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, found guilty and sentenced to jail terms in offences filed against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan zonal office. The duo respectively bagged six months and four months imprisonment before Justices Joyce Abdulmalik and P. I. Ajoku of the Federal High Court of the Ibadan Judicial Division. The convicts had pleaded guilty to the separate one-count amended charges preferred against them by the EFCC which were products of the plea bargain proposed by their lawyers and agreed to by the commission. The charges border on fraud and fraudulent impersonation. Apart from bagging a jail term, Arewa was said to have already refunded the sum of $200 USD (Two Hundred United States American Dollars) as restitution to the victim of his fraud. He will also forfeit his HP Laptop and iPhone 6s to the federal government.

President Buhari Targets Over 12 Million Nigerians With ‘Next Level’ Initiative

Over 12 million Nigerians are to benefit from the ‘Next Level’ of the federal government’s National Social Investment Programme (N-SIP). This is even as the Home-grown School Feeding Programme has now extended to 30 states with 9.5 million children now being fed and 2.5 million farmers, cooks and others benefiting from the value chains. A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity (Office of the Vice-President), Laolu Akande, said that the federal government is also targeting millions of Nigerians to benefit from its schemes. President Muhammadu Buhari administration’s National Social Investment Programmes (N-SIP) is aimed at empowering Nigerians and improving their livelihood through several initiatives. John Owen Nwachukwu The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and winner of the February 2019 election, Muhammadu Buhari, has faulted claim by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar that they won the election. President Buhari told the Presidential Election Tribunal that, by the result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, he (Buhari) and his party, were victorious in the last election. The APC candidate also told the Tribunal that the claim by Atiku and the PDP that the tradermoni policy of the government was a vote-buying measure was not true. According to Buhari, the policy formed one of the many social intervention policies his government had put in place, directed at alleviating the suffering of the masses.
